I read in other reviews that it was a great throwing knife and that it was durable. They said that after throwing it at a tree, all that came off was the black finish on the blade. I threw it at a tree, and it stuck twice. The third time I threw it it didnt stick. The blade went one direction and the hilt went the other. The blade literally snapped in half, at the handle.
VERY disappointed, especially after having this for less than a month and this was the first time trying it as a throwing knife.
Maybe Smith&Wesson is best for their GUNS, and not the knives they produce!

A beautiful blade. Strong, sharp (needs some work), and endlessly useful. Fun to carry around, great for party tricks. Sheath is very easy to open with one hand, metal clip holds firm to clothing and whatnot. Go to work with a diamond dust sharpener and make yourself a double edged razor with a wicked point. Excellent knife for the price.

To be short: this knife is awesome.. I would wear it on my pants all the time if I could. Well built, sharp and dangerous if you dont know how to handle this kind of knife. Highly recommended.

instead of blabbing about how much i like this knife ill let you all know the exact dimensions of it… since im well on my way to being an engineer i have alot of micrometers on hand and the reason i want to post the size of it is because ITS SMALL…i know to alot of people it might be “big enough” but for me its pretty tiny. i saw it as a pretty big knife from the pictures i saw a customer upload here but when i opened the box i noticed how short it felt on my hand. so lets see, what i got on the actual blade at its thickest is .155 inches a little smaller than the size of 2 sd cards and what i got on the length of the blade is 4.9 inches very close to 5 inches..the handle is the rough part, at .717 inches at its thickest and 4.375 in length its too small to be comfortable. but dimensions aside, i thought the knife was very sturdy and well made. the description mentions both aluminum and steel that the handle is made of so im not sure about the material but you cant really feel it because its coated with what feels like rubber (not teflon) but im not so sure. though it is pretty well balanced so it doesnt really matter.
overall its a good knife for the price (i paid 20 usd) but for self-defense its not what id expect to stab someone with….

Even if you already have a few knifes, this one is worth getting. In overall appearance this blade and scabbard are even better than I was expecting. I sense that whoever designed these put a lot of thought and pride into both. The hard rubber-like handle is an usually comfortable fit for my hand, which is more the hand of an office worker than someone who does heavy labor. And the blade is somewhat like a shortened version of a Sykes Fairborn dagger, but even better in the way its painted surface is already sharpened, so you won’t have to risk scratching it as I did when I tried to improve the edge on my Sykes Fairborn. I was also pleased to realize that there’s a convenient lanyard hole in the handle. Smith & Wesson was willing to put their name on this, and they were right to do so.
