I purchased a Buck 105 sometime in the 1990s after owning a Buck 102 since 1972. Both are excellent knives. I’ve cleaned many deer with the 105, and its size is perfect in my hand and plenty big enough for field dressing a white tail deer. I also prefer the 105 over the 102 for larger size catfish. The 105 is a little large for panfish.
Both the 102 and 105, when correctly used and sharpened, will last a lifetime and it might be around to pass along to the grandkids. The shape of the blades on both the 102 and 105 make for very easy work on all aspects of cleaning game.
After I bought the 105, I usually carried it when deer hunting. I have found the 105 better for deer than the 102. If you only hunt large game, then the 105 would be better. If you hunt small game, the 102 is definitely the correct choice.
Get a Buck knife, you won’t be sorry.
